Welcome to Siem Reap! Upon your arrival at the airport, you’ll be greeted by our driver and English-speaking tour guide, who will transfer you to your hotel for check-in. You’ll have some time to relax before we begin our cycling tour at 2 pm.
In the afternoon, we’ll venture off the beaten path on intriguing dirt roads to explore the local way of life. The tour will include scenic stops at various spots such as rice fields, rice mills, local markets, and mushroom farms. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to sample local fruits and snacks provided by the village.
After returning to town, we’ll take a break from touring and savor inventive local dishes at Marum Restaurant, an NGO-supported venue that helps street children and other disadvantaged youth.
In the morning, your cycling journey begins with a visit to one of Angkor's most renowned temples, Ta Prohm, where you'll encounter fewer crowds. Ta Prohm stands out for its untouched state, with jungle trees and vines reclaiming much of its structure, creating a picturesque scene famously captured in the movie "Tomb Raider".
Next, you'll proceed to Angkor Thom, entering through its monumental gate adorned with carved elephants and imposing faces. Inside, the centerpiece is Bayon Temple, known for its enigmatic stone faces representing the provinces of the Khmer Empire. Don't miss the intricately detailed bas-reliefs of the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King.
After a relaxing lunch at a local restaurant featuring delicious Cambodian cuisine, your journey culminates at the magnificent Angkor Wat, guided by your tour leader who will unravel its deep historical significance and symbolism. Finally, you'll return to your hotel, enriched by a day of exploration in the heart of the Angkor complex.
Today, embark on an adventurous exploration of Tonle Sap Lake by both bike and boat. This unique experience combines an outdoor journey through the countryside of Siem Reap with a visit to a floating village and a scenic sunset cruise along the river.
Your tour will lead you through quaint backroads, allowing you to immerse yourself in the local culture and traditions of Siem Reap. You'll have the chance to interact with friendly residents and gain insight into their daily lives. The tour will conclude at Tonle Sap Lake, where you'll observe how Cambodian families adapt to life on the water in the floating villages. As the day winds down, enjoy a sunset view over the lake with some snacks and refreshing drinks. Later, you'll return to the city in a private vehicle, arriving in the late evening.
Today, we begin our early morning bike ride to Kompong Thom to explore the Sambor Prei Kok temple, a significant pre-Angkorian site in Cambodia that is expected to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This temple, constructed during the Chenla period between the 6th and 7th centuries, holds great historical importance. After a guided tour of the temple complex, we'll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
Post-lunch, we will continue our journey through picturesque rice paddies and charming villages, with locals offering warm greetings as we cycle past. We’ll then board our van for a 4-hour drive to Phnom Penh. This vibrant city, located at the meeting point of the Mekong River and Tonle Sap Lake, is renowned for its colonial-era architecture and enduring charm. Phnom Penh combines the grandeur of its past with a lively modern atmosphere, where Asian and Western influences blend seamlessly.
After enjoying a satisfying breakfast and hotel coffee, our journey begins with a visit to the Royal Palace. This historic site, established in 1866, includes the Silver Pagoda, renowned for its collection of over 5,000 silver tiles and locally known as Wat Preah Keo. It also houses the Emerald Buddha temple and serves as a museum showcasing Buddha statues. Our next stop is the National Museum, built in traditional Khmer architecture, where a treasure trove of ancient Khmer art, archaeological finds, and religious artifacts from the 4th to 12th centuries are preserved.
Heading south from the bustling tourist center, we arrive at Toul Sleng, once a high school turned Security Prison 21 (S21) during the Khmer Rouge regime from 1975 to 1979. This sobering site bears witness to Cambodia's tumultuous past. Following a leisurely lunch at a local Khmer-style restaurant, sampling traditional cuisine, we continue our exploration with a visit to the poignant Killing Fields Genocide Museum. Spend an hour exploring this complex before returning to the hotel to unwind by the pool in the afternoon.
Today, we leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind and cross the river by ferry to reach the Silk Islands, located to the north of Phnom Penh. Once we arrive, we’ll bike through lush orchards and vegetable farms, soaking in the tranquility of the countryside and gaining insights into the lives of the Silk Islands' residents. Our journey will include stops at traditional village industries, providing a deeper understanding of authentic Cambodian life. The serene island atmosphere offers not only a peaceful retreat but also a chance to learn about Cambodia’s silk weaving heritage, explore quiet villages, relax by the river, or take a refreshing dip.
In the afternoon, we'll return to the city for lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, you'll have some free time before we set off on a sunset cruise along the Phnom Penh riverfront. Enjoy the scenic views while sipping on cocktails, beer, or soft drinks, and experience Phnom Penh from a unique perspective.
After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, you have the morning to yourself before we transfer you to the airport for your departure flight.
